Bahrain is actually an archipelago of 33 islands, what most people don’t know is that Bahrain World Trade Centre is the first skyscraper in the world to integrate wind turbines into its design. Each turbine is 95′-0″ in diameter w/ a capacity of wind power production at 675kw. The 780′ foot tall tower has won several international awards including the LEAF (Leading European Architects’ Forum) award for best use of technology. Bahrain also boasts beautiful Arabic vernacular architecture and the Souk as depicted here is a stunning depiction of that. The Architecture utilizes traditional elements and makes use of day light, courtyard design, so the spaces feel more comfortable than the surrounding areas. The exquisite doors and use of architectural fabric is also one of a kind and provides shade on the busy market street.
